Information on the Theme Contest
PHP Fusion NetworkWhile Sheldon is responsible for the general outline, guidelines, prizes and told you about them in his post, I will now tell you about how the themes are rated and give you some tips for your themes.

The contest is closely linked to the imminent release of PHP-Fusion 7. Consequently, a very important criterion for the rating of your theme submissions will be how you used the new features of PHP-Fusion 7. Custom head tags, output handling, the jQuery javascript toolkit and other new features provide new possibilities to influence the layout of your themes. Do not overuse them though, overuse could what we call sensory overload and take away from the main purpose of a site. Your theme(s) should not become a pure tech demo, but you should use the new possibilities you have in a reasonable and clever way to enhance the content and features of a site.

Themes provide the visual interface of PHP-Fusion sites. Thus the look you create with images and code will also influence the rating of your theme submission. Again, be careful not to add to many images or effects and keep an eye on load times and usability.

The next criterion is the code quality of the theme. The theme PHP code and JS code should be readable and should not produce any errors, you should avoid redundant CSS and try to stick to the W3C HTML and CSS specifications (note: Core 7 is XHTML compliant and therefore to be fully compliant your theme will need to follow the same DTD, use the W3C validation utilities at http://www.w3c.org ).

The last rating criterion is called creativity and sums up the other criteria. You will get a high rating here for new or interesting approaches of theming the site elements or interesting new features added to the theme. Remember that div layouts are now possible in the Core 7 theming structure.

Read more for more details on the weighting of the criteria, the community vote and the calculation of the final rating.

Note: Final Submission Date will be 1 month from today's posting date (end date: July 28th). Cheers.
PHP Fusion Theme Contest Announcement
PHP Fusion NetworkCONTEST TIME!

The crew here at PHP Fusion have put together a nice little treat for its entire GLOBAL community! We have decided to launch a theme design contest. We will offer 3 prizes for the top 3 themes. The grand prize will be a free hosting package from Netriox/Forge Hosting(the company that runs the Fusion Servers) and the theme being included into the final PHP Fusion package. The final details, submission guidelines and how the themes will be judged will be posted by Matonor sometime within the next 48 hours or so. A pdf outlining the basic details is available here

On that note I would also like to reinforce a few license details. PHP Fusion has been released under the AGPL license. This means that the Copyright Footer and File Headers are NOT to be removed without specific written permission. At this time we do not have a procedure or policy on copyright removal. As well, when converting or updating PHP Fusion v6 themes, you need to make sure the the copyright notice properly displays and it should look exactly like the one on this site.

Click readmore for an example of the Copyright Footer

PS: A new tool to report bugs for PHP Fusion Core 7 RC versions will be up shortly.

PHP-FusionIt's been a nagging question asked more and more lately, when is v7 coming? Well Ladies and Gentlemen, today is the day! V7 can be installed afresh or you can upgrade from v6.01. Please read the included readme for full instructions before installing or upgrading. Note that v6 mods, infusions and themes are NOT compatible with v7, you must either update or remove such items BEFORE upgrading to v7.

New Support Forums
Site NewsAs it appears of the forum overview, we have launched 10 new support forums reserved for the upcoming release of PHP-Fusion Core 7 Edition. These are currently visible to members only. Postability is currently preserved staff, until the new moderators have been appointed. We endeavour continuously to add some information to the forums. Please keep in mind that PHP-Fusion Core 7 Edition is still beta - hence why it is not officially supported and you are still expected to post issues in the dedicated beta forum.

[UPDATE] On another note, we please ask ALL developers and this includes staff, to restrain from posting SVN zip packages to the public. PHP-Fusion 7 has not yet been officially released and therefore should not be released as such in any package. All developers should be using the SVN. Thanks -Management

PHP-Fusion v6.01.15
SecurityA Secunia advisory has brought to my attention a SQL injection vulnerability - hence yet another patch is available. Simply download the update package, overwrite the affected files and click the upgrade button under System Admin - that should be it. As usual - if you are running an earlier version of 6.01.xx, you need to apply the previous updates before utilizing this patch. The full SourceForge package and the SVN have also been updated:

PHP-Fusion 6.01.15 Update - for v6.01.14 only (3,86 KB).
PHP-Fusion 6.01.15 (2.04 MB).

I feel like repeating myself - lol...

Please refer to Secunia.com for details.

Mantis Bug Tracker
Bugs and ErrorsAlong with the release of the helpdesk system we are proud to announce the release of the Mantis Bug Tracking system. This system will allow users to report bugs, ask for feature requests which can be denied, accepted and allocated to certain version numbers like a roadmap.

The only major downfall to a system like this is with the vast majority of users that we do have in the community duplicate bug reports are going to happen. What I ask from the community is simple, before posting your bug or feature request please search the system for it before and simply add your notes and information to the currently existing bug report. This will make it much easier for the dev crew to analyze issues. We dont want to be spending our time marking duplicate bug reports and closing them.

So without further adue: http://mantis.php-fusion.co.uk/dev/

Update: Apparently its one of the Dev Staff's birthday... Happy Birthday to Wooya!
PHP Fusion HelpDesk - ALPHA TRIAL
Site NewsStarting today we are launching a new service called the PHP Fusion Helpdesk. This helpdesk will allow users to create a ticket to be addressed by the PHP Fusion Staff. While this makes it easy for the staff to answer support requests it adds alot of work for us. With that said before creating a ticket the following guidelines must be met:

1. You must have searched the forum for your answer
2. You must have made a post in the forum if your search resulted in 0 results
3. Your post must be 24 hours old with no replies or atleast no replies with the answer your looking for ;)
4. When creating the ticket you must copy and paste the link to your thread in the ticket so that the support personnel can review it and others can benefit from the answer.
5. Support at this point in time is for the PHP Fusion Core only
6. PHP Fusion Core 7 .. IS NOT SUPPORTED.

All support requests regarding v7 will be ignored and deleted from the helpdesk system. No matter how simple the question.

http://helpdesk.php-fusion.co.uk

Please remember that this is an ALPHA trial meaning we may decide to remove this system if abused by the public. If all goes well we will eventually add more areas of support. We will in the future offer paid support options once the staff has decided how we will go about it.

Any questions can be directed to me personally.

* All staff please read the post on the crew site.
Infusion SDK for Version 7
PHP-FusionBefore I begin, we feel that v7 is dominating things here a bit too much. We want to very much continue support for v6 while development continues on v7. We have a significant backup of planned additions to v7, it'd be crazy to start adding to our current plans, so please let's not have any further requests for the time being. I must reiterate that v7 is not supported, hence we wont respond to such requests.

With that said, I'm pleased to announce the release of the Infusion SDK for Version 7. You will need to ensure you are using the very latest SVN release (it is updated regularly btw). Due to some structural changes, v6 infusions cannot be installed but full conversion instructions are included.

Download the V7 Infusion SDK here.
